ACCOUNTANT

Reports to: President

The Accountant will continue to strengthen the financial reporting and oversight of the  company. They strive to accurately and timely report financials and provide financial  stewardship. Supporting our most valuable asset, our staff, is essential and paramount to our  business’ success. 

Core Duties:

  • Oversees bookkeeping functions including A/P, A/R, daily bank and POS system  financials detail entry 

  • Prepares financial reports for President and executive staff 

  • Monitors and manages budget throughout the year, including controlling expenses  appropriately and performing periodic variance analysis 

  • Manages general ledger including reconciliation

  • Oversees benefits enrollment and management 

  • Oversees accounting procedures and internal controls 

  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures 

  • Fosters and maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors  

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

    The Accountant performs specific financial and administrative related tasks.

    POSITION SPECIFICS

    • Oversees bookkeeping functions including A/P, A/R, daily bank and POS system  financials detail entry 

    • Prepares financial reports for President and executive staff 

    • Monitors and manages budget throughout the year, including controlling expenses  appropriately and performing periodic variance analysis 

    • Manages general ledger including reconciliation 

    • Oversees accounting procedures and internal controls 

    • Prepares bank reconciliations 

    • Preparation of monthly and as-needed journal entries 

    • Oversee benefits enrollment and management 

    • Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures 

    • Stays abreast of current and pending federal, state and local employment laws and  market trends 

    • Conducts internal audits for inventory, SOPs, human resources, etc. 

    • Fosters and maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors  

    • Special projects and other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field 

    5 years accounting experience; food or beverage experience preferred 

    Minimum Requirements 

    • Significant experience in bookkeeping duties including financial reporting, general ledger  management, cash flow management and risk assessment 

    • Experience in benefits administration (payroll, insurance, 401k, etc) 

    • Experience in organization and general office management 

    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills 

    • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment 

    • Confidence in communicating gaps and areas for improvement 

    • Advanced level experience in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

    • Experience with taking inventory and Toast/Tock, and QuickBooks software

    • Ability to identify and mitigate risk 

    • Ability to perform multiple functions under pressure 

    • Performs a variety of complicated tasks 

    • Ability to use a wide degree of analytical skills to plan and accomplish goals

    • Can work under minimal supervision, relying on experience and judgment

    • Good work ethic and positive, productive attitude 

    • Detail-oriented and accurate 

    • Able to work within specific deadlines 

    • Able to communicate effectively cross-functionally and with outside vendors and  partners 

    • May lead and direct the work of others 

    • Passion for the brand, product, and story 

    • Must be willing to perform other duties assigned and as needed

    • Ability to lift weight in excess of 40 lbs

Front of House Staff

This is a Union (Unite Here Local 17) position.

The Front of House staff oversees the cocktail room experience for the BJWC distillery. As one of the faces of the business, it is essential that Front of House staff embody all of the BJWC core values. Staff should be enthusiastic, outgoing, engaging, and have attention to detail.

Other duties are as follows:

  • Execute the signature Brother Justus American Single Malt Whiskey service and tasting program

  • Execute an exceptional hospitality experience in the cocktail room

  • Execute consistently high level of service

  • Accurately maintaining sales in a computerized system

  • Maintain clean, tidy, beautiful, and safe physical plant and cocktail room premises

    POSITION SPECIFICS

    Greets customers and takes food and/or beverage order; provides information about products and looks for opportunity to discuss our featured items

    Follows recipes and/or product directions for mixing beverages

    Collects payments and operates cash registers for drinks and/or food serve following company-established cash handling policies and procedures for all transactions; secures all monies at the end of each shift

    Follows all BJWC SOPs for customer service, adult beverage, and cash handling policies and procedures

    Ensures a clean, sanitized and well-stocked bar

    Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ bartending and/or restaurant experience; fine dining experience is a plus;

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to perform multiple functions under pressure  

    • Passion for brand, product, and story  

    • Highly organized, detail-attentive, and professional

    • Communicates effectively to team and leadership

    • Be able to work a variety of hours, days, and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules

    • Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude every shift

    • Must be able to stand or walk for a shift

    • Must be willing to perform other duties assigned as needed

    Essential Physical Functions

    • Enters and locates information on computer and equipment

    • Must be able to stand or walk for of a shift

    • Must be able to work at approximately 36” table/bar and reach 36”

    • Ability to pick up and transport production supplies and certain equipment
